Not only did Larissa show her teachers how to use it, she had found it in the storage room not being used. I thought this was a great experience to learn from as she was making use of resources in the school. Larissas blog made me realise the importance of embracing technology rather than shying away from it. If anyone has any tips on using the interactive white board I would love to hear other fantastic learning experiences!

I used a PC using the program movie maker and found it very simple to put together. The process is long and tedious, however the results are fantastic. I would love to use this tool in the classroom. It is a fun way to present information to students and makes the learning more interactive. Here is my first Imovie which I posted on Teacher tube. One teaching lesson was for the students to create their own jingle and to record it onto garage band. The results were fantastic. They had alot of fun and loved sharing them with the class. It did take alot of time and there were alot of frustrations but the end product was worth the time. Listen to see to results of just one jingle.

After reading Emily’s blog Is it okay for teachers to be technologiaclly illiterate, I started to think further into this debatable issue of becoming ‘computer savvy’ teachers. This is a nightmare to most people but I agree that without this kind of knowledge teachers are not preparing themselves for the future. I was positing the question to myself in reflection to this blog ‘Are Students in primary school are better at using and understanding technology than their teachers.’ I think that primary school students are definitely more adept at using technology than their teachers. This is primarily because they have grown up using technology at home and at school from a very young age. It is natural for them to use the computer to play games and use the Internet at everyday at school and at home in the afternoons and on weekends.
I believe that majority of the time students are more proficient than their teachers at using technology where teachers themselves have not kept up with technology and technological trends. Teachers can be afraid to try things new in the tech space whereas students have been born into this way of communicating. However when teachers develop their confidence and proficiency using technology the benefits to all are evident. Witnessing ICT in the classroom can make teaching and learning more engaging, efficient and interactive for all. Teachers need to become experts in using technology in the classroom in order to instruct their students.

Recently I experimented with the free online program LAMS COMMUNITY. This new resource that I have found is fantastic for the classroom for online tasks. It is free to sign up and easy, so if you are looking for a different way to present information to your students give it a go. My online task was for a stage three class studying ‘Global connections’. I used the resource Miniature earth as my key resource for the project which was only accessible from the internet. I found that this resource is interactive and alows students to take their learning into their own hands. Check out my LAMS, and the site to see how creative you can become.

Skype is contributing to globalistaion and communications, allowing people to create global networking. Skype is an online tool that you can download for free, allowing comminucation by microphone instantly. This is a fantastic device that could become part of the living classroom, where students chat to people all around the world. I have used this tool to contact friends and family travelling around the world. You can connect by voice and visual, experienecing a real on line conversation. I believe that this kind of technology will become part of the classroom, giving opportunity to discuss relevant issues, ideas and learning. Just like a face to face blog instantly!
